California Road Trip Part 2

Hey y’all!

Here is my continuation of our road trip adventures…

We hit the road to San Francisco from Monterey Bay and the drive was just as magical as it had been the previous few days. It was literally heaven on earth! It was lovely to be on the open road with my honey. We talked about all the future dreams we have and how amazing it would be to live in an RV and travel all over the place. It would be a minimalist life style full of adventures and memories rather than stuff. I love hearing Chris talk about the future and all the wonderful and creative ideas he has, he really lights up when he talks about it and I fall more and more in love with him because of it. It’s a magical feeling to dream about the future together.

We wanted to go see the Redwood Forest at Muir Woods, yet we got a late start and we wanted to shave some time off the end of our trip. We needed to be flexible and this is one of the things I love about both Chris and I, we don’t need some strict agenda or itinerary that we cannot veer from. I think that just causes unnecessary stress. Chris is a badass with the map and researching things, he ended up finding a portion of the Red Wood Forest that we could stop at on our way to San Francisco.

We stopped in Felton, CA and roamed around the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park. I got this dreamy sweatshirt that feels like a cloud on my skin from the gift shop, it was perfect to throw on and roam around the forest in. It was incredible to walk around and see all the massively beautiful trees and most of the ground was canvassed in clovers; every inch of the forest was so pretty and peaceful.

Clovers have a special meaning; the common 3 leaf clovers represent faith, hope and love. The more uncommon 4 leaf clover adds the “luck.” Going to the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park was a great pit stop for us to get out and stretch our legs a bit, not to mention all the beauty we got to take in.

After exploring the forest we hit the road once again and set out for our final destination, San Francisco. This portion of CA Hwy 1, from Monterey Bay to San Francisco was the most beautiful. We saw this really incredible light house with the most perfect view of the ocean and hill side. We came into the city and all the architecture is breath taking. We stayed at Hotel Tomo in Japantown. I absolutely love this hotel! We stayed on the 8th floor, the top of the hotel and we had a great view of the city. The room was spacious, clean, and artsy.

After we got all settled into our room we hit the streets to explore Japantown. I felt like we were in a totally different country when we were exploring Japantown, it was awesome! Right across the street from our hotel was the Japantown Peace Plaza, and the image above is the Japantown Peace Pagoda.

Stay tuned to hear all about our adventures in San Francisco! It really deserves a post of its own…

California Road Trip Part 1

Hello!

We are now home from our road trip adventures, I’m happy to be home, but sad at the same time. We saw so many beautiful things that I can’t even begin to share with you all how magnificent it was. We took California Hwy 1 and it was the most magical drive of my entire life. The drive is long and the roads are narrow and curvy, but it is so worth it. The scenery you see on California Hwy 1 is straight out of a picture. I was overwhelmed by all the beauty that surrounded us at all times. There are great pull outs, shops, and diners along the way. Everything along this route has so much character in it. It’s amazing to see how nature will find a way to grow and thrive anywhere, no matter what. There was something so emotional about this drive, I realized how beautiful life is and how much more precious memories are than stuff or things. I was drawn in by the trees; many of them growing solo out the side of a rock mountain. It’s just incredible. No one can tell a tree where to grow, because it will find a way to grow anywhere. It’s pretty impressive to take a trip and really absorb the nature that surrounds you. There are so many lessons to be learned from nature, all it’s beauty and strength, and yet it can’t speak to you with a voice. However, it speaks in great volume to my soul without saying anything at all, if I just listen with my heart and open my mind. [Read more...]

Road Trip

Hello explorers!

My fiance, Chris and I have been trying to figure out a trip for ourselves for the past couple weeks. He is busiest with work in the summer and spends a lot of time away from home on the road, so we really try and plan a few outings for ourselves when we can. We have right around a week to have some adult fun and we are taking full advantage of it. Chris gets some seriously amazing ideas flowing, so many that they all sound great and it becomes hard to choose. My concern for him is that I don’t want him to have to do oodles of tiring traveling, he does enough of that for work, but he is selfless in that he will put in the travel time to be able to take me somewhere I have never been. He is really caring in that way. It has been an exhausting back and forth about what plans are the ones for us, but finally we have settled on an idea that suits us perfectly. [Read more...]
