Visiting the Optometrist

Hello friends!

Friday I went to the optometrist and got my eyes examined. I haven’t had them checked in at least two years and I have been getting headaches. My fiance had to go and get his eyes checked, because he wears contacts regularly and was out, so I tagged along with him. I found out that I am far-sighted, which is interesting, because it means I don’t see things well close up. I thought it meant just the opposite. I don’t need to wear contacts daily, thank goodness! I don’t know if I could put those things in my eye balls everyday! The good news is that I know what is causing my headaches. I sit at the computer a lot, writing, doing school work, and researching. I will need to wear my glasses during reading, doing computer work, and on long drives.

Make sure to take care of your eyes and get a check up. The eye doctor is nothing to fear, it’s actually quite interesting. An eye doctor once saved my Momma-Kons life, or at least helped prolong it. She was having episodes where she was seeing flashes of light. She thought they might be what is called orbicular migraines, but the eye doctor suggested she see her regular doctor, because she had a history of cancer. She followed up her optometry appointment by visiting her regular doctor, after having some tests ran she found out she had some cancer in her brain. The doctors took immediate action and she fought the cancer in her brain. This was hugely in part to her eye doctor not assuming that she was having orbicular migraines and suggesting a further check up.

Even though eye doctors specialize in eyes, they can also help eliminate certain problems and make suggestions for further health care. It’s also so much fun to try on tons of different glasses and see what looks best on you, plus you can have a little laugh about the ones that look absolutely silly.
